It is great preparation and practical training if you spend some time interning in the United States before you embark on your internship in Germany. For this reason, you are strongly encouraged to participate in summer work experience. At least one summer is desirable. Connecticut is home to over 150 German companies, and you will find over 900 German companies in the wider New England area. We will provide you with the names of company contacts and encourage you to explore internships that fit your particular career goals.
Please attend the University-sponsored Career Fairs. They provide you with additional opportunities to find summer internships. We are bringing more and more German companies to these career fairs. For this reason, you should always have an up-to-date resume on file. The Writing Center and the Career Services Center are a useful resource for this. The EUROTECH director, Prof. Anke Finger, and the undergraduate advisor, Prof. Sebastian Wogenstein, in the German Studies program also maintain many contacts to German companies directly – ask them for suggestions!
